The record breaking omelette has been brought to Ankara to celebrate World Egg Day 2010 and promote eggs as a healthy, affordable and easy to prepare food staple.

2 ) World Record Pumpkin Pie

The current world record stands at 2,020 pounds (after baking). It was prepared and baked by the New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers in New Bremen, Ohio. This huge pie was made on October 8, 2005. Over 5,000 people came to witness the event.

For the record: This pie was 2,020 pounds. It measured 12 feet, 4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. The pie recipe included 900 pounds of pumpkin, 155 dozen eggs, 62 gallons of evaporated milk, 300 pounds of sugar, 3.5 pounds of salt, 7 pounds of cinnamon and 2 pounds of pumpkin pie spice. The pie lost over 200 pounds while baking. The pie made over 3000 pieces. Baking began at about 6:00am. The pie was baked for over five hours in acustom made oven.

3 ) World’s largest Meatball

At the first annual Nonni’s Family day today in Concord NH Nonni’s Italian Eatery has set the worlds record for the largest meatball ever made! The world record breaking Meatball was 222.5 lbs! That breaks the previous world record by 25 lbs!!!!! Then as soon as the festivities were complete the humongous meatball was broken down into tasty bite sized portions and packaged up and delivered to local area shelters to feed the hungry.

4 ) World’s largest tiramisu desserts

155 bakers from the Italian community in the small Swiss town of Porrentruy spent 14 hours creating a tiramisu Measuring eight centimeters (three inches) high and 50 square meters in area and weighing 2,310 tonnes – which sets the new world record for the Largest Tiramisu. 5 ) World’s largest Pizza

On December 8th, 1990, a monumentally wasteful record was set by Pick ‘n’ Pay hypermarket in Johannesburg, South Africa when a pizza measuring 37.4 meters in diameter was, for lack of a better term, constructed. It’s said to have been made using 500 kg of flour, 800 kg of cheese and 900 kg of tomato paste.

6 ) World’s largest Lollipop

On the occasion of Sri Chinmoy’s birth anniversary, New Yorker Ashrita Furman unveiled the world’s largest lollipop with a weight of 6,706 pounds (3041 kg). It surpasses the previous Guinness World Record for a giant lollipop by almost 2,000 pounds (907 kg). Ashrita Furman, holder of the most Guinness records, was the architect behind the feat accompanied by an international team of over 25 assistants. The huge red candy is made of sugar and corn syrup, which was melted in hundred 100-gallon (380 litre) pots. Including the stick it has the height of 25 feet (7.50 m). This size ensures Ashrita Furman a new entry into the Guinness Book, because the previous largest lollipop was 4,759 pounds (2158 kg). To put it in perspective this single lollipop would be the equivalent of 165,070 regular-sized lollipops!

7 ) World’s largest Bowl of Hummus

Israel has taken the upper hand in a different kind of Mideast conflict: using a satellite dish from a nearby broadcast station, cooks in a town near Jerusalem whipped up more than four metric tons of hummus, the chickpea paste that is a staple for many in the region. The cooks doubled the previous record for the world’s biggest serving of hummus, set in October by cooks in Lebanon. That record broke an earlier Israeli record and briefly put Lebanon ahead. Aaron Schachter has more.

8 ) World’s largest Burger

World’s largest Burger served at Mallie’s Sports Bar and Grill in Detroit, Michigan, costs $350 and must be ordered 24 hours in advance. The 134 pound slab of meat is served on a 50 pound bun, and naturally, no single individual has ever been able to eat more than a small portion of it.

9 ) World’s largest Sushi Roll

I find it hard to believe that a non-Japanese restaurant would hold the title for world’s largest sushi roll. This ginormous version of the bite-sized dish was on display at G. Sushi, the famed Honk Kong based chain that recently opened an outlet in Shanghai, China. It is owned by Jackie Chan, the martial arts hero and actor. The restaurateur tries to put his arms around the gigantic sushi roll, (makizushi) wrapped in a blanket of seaweed (nori).

10 ) World’s Largest Fish and Chips Serving

The Black Rose (an Irish pub in Boston) and Icelandic USA (an American seafood distributor) were jointly anointed by the Guinness World Records for the World’s Largest Fish and Chips Serving in year 2004. At a total weight of 77.75 pounds, the serving included a 34.21-pound cod fillet (which was 39.6 inches long) that was caught off the west coast of Iceland, and 43.54 pounds of chips. It beat the record set by an establishment in South Africa, and helped promote both the cod fishing industry in Iceland and one of Boston’s oldest pubs.
